Adhesion Testing by CAT Technology

(CAT stands for Centrifugal Adhesion Testing) In many areas of application e.g. adhesive bonding and coatings in automotive, electronics, optics, composite materials (bonding, layering, and coatings), it is essential for analyzing bonding strength for people like design engineers, R&D, and quality control. The bonding strength is commonly tested by tensile strength. A traditional instrument can handle only one sample. To achieve reproducibility, the instrument requires lots of work such as clamping aids, alignment construction. Moreover, if wanted to perform a series of experiments, it is super time-consuming! The new standard of adhesion testing applies CAT technology by LUM GmbH from Berlin, Germany. The instrument, named LUMiFrac accomplishes the CAT technology by directly applying an incremental increasing redial centrifugal force to the specimen being tested.
